Living on The Oak Ridges Moraine

BIKES AND DRIVING TOURS

Exploration by car or bicycle is a great way to learn about and appreciate the Oak Ridges Moraine. You will realize just how big the moraine is – think of it as exploring 1/3 of Prince Edward Island!

By car you could start out in the east with the sunrise and with stops for stretching, lunch, shopping and sight-seeing, you can easily count on watching the sunset from Palgrave.

Sure, you could travel it in less time, but it's highly recommended that you take much more than just one day. Staying on road you can pretty much follow the peak of the moraine, just be prepared for some unpaved sections and the odd "jog" that takes you around large forest tracts.

Biking on the Oak Ridges Moraine

GPS directions may get you around by the quickest route, but we recommend accessing the sites below for the routes with much more character, charm and services to be enjoyed.

Bicyclists should be aware that some sections of the Oak Ridges Trail are pedestrian only while others are shared with vehicles. Be sure to check either the Oak Ridges Trail Guidebook or with municipalities below to see which trails are available for multi-purposes.

No matter which way you choose to get to know the moraine better there is one sure out-come - to know the moraine is to love it!
