Giving to the Oak Ridges Moraine Land Trust creates winning situations

Numerous species of animals, birds, plants, amphibians and butterflies will thank you for ensuring their homes, feeding and breeding areas are protected.
With more cash resources at hand, the Trust can leverage even further support through matching grants or required cash contributions to access program funding from a broader variety of sources.
The Oak Ridges Moraine Land Trust is registered with Canada Revenue Agency as a charitable organization (# 873208920 RR0001) and is also certified by Environment Canada to receive gifts made under the Canada Ecological Gifts Program.
Donations can be made in a number of ways - such as cash, life insurance or other investments – and for a number of reasons – stewardship; acquisitions; operational support; etc.
- By donating you can receive a tax receipt and support the Land Trust's work of acquiring, managing and protecting land, undertaking outreach and communications activity.
You can specify that your donation be placed in the 10th Anniversary Stewardship Fund where it will support work directed at securing further protection of the Oak Ridges Moraine and help the Trust maintain commitments to monitoring and stewardship of lands under its care.
Pledges directed to the York Community Foundation Stewardship Endowment Fund, can potentially be matched 1:1 (to an upper limit of $20,000) until the end of 2012. This program is supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation's Future Fund.
- By donating securities, life insurance, property, bequests, or utilizing charitable gift annuities, you or your estate can also benefit from considerable tax advantages.
- By arranging for a conservation easement on your land, you can ensure permanent protection for your property while retaining rights of ownership. This transaction will also provide some tax advantages. Recent real estate transactions would indicate that there is little or no impact on an owner's ability to resell their property.
- By donating land, you can be assured that your special place is protected and managed in accordance with your wishes forever!
Several criteria are used to rank the ecological and strategic importance of lands offered to the Trust to ensure that the goal of protecting, natural features, functions, habitat and connectivity with other protected areas is reached. OMLT is certified by Environment Canada to receive gifts of land made under the Canada Ecological Gifts Program.
The Trust also accepts gifts of land that could be sold to raise funds.
